I am grateful for: soul friendships

We are lucky if we find one friend in our lifetime that we feel is a soul friend, but I’ve been so lucky to have 25 years full of beautiful, unique and deep friendships that have supported me throughout all my life stages so far. The past two years in Israel have been two of my most formative years and after sending off one of my best friends (who coincidentally moved to Israel the same day as me) and left Israel yesterday to start her new adventure in New York, the importance and magic of soul friendships hit me. Soul friends are the family we choose. They are the people that don’t have to love you unconditionally, but they choose to because they love you for all that you are. They are the people who see you for you in the here and now without needing to know more about your childhood or background. They are the people who remind you that when you are going through a hard time, to speak to yourself with the same kindness and love as if you are speaking to a friend. Soul friendships, especially in our 20s, help shape us into the people we want to become. They are the friends that even when you have your own personal pain and struggles, you are able to find that last bit of strength and love to support your friend in their hardships. They support us through our challenging life transitions and are by our side as we confront the big questions of life. These friendships should never be taken for granted because they aren’t the people we are born into, but they are the people we choose to surround ourselves with because they bring a certain light, they bring certain teachings and they bring a special kind of support that facilitates our growth and allows us to evolve without judgement.

I truly believe we have many soulmates in our lives who serve different functions; and these friendships are just as much a soul connection as any partner or romantic relationship. So I encourage you to take a look at the people you surround yourself with and thank them for choosing to support you in your journey. I know I wouldn’t be who I am and where I am without the unconditional love and support from my soul friends.
