“Why do I travel?”- I started this thought in Peru after waking up at 2:30am to trek the second largest canyon in the world, and I finish this thought on my first days back home in Tel Aviv. .... Some people travel to find themselves, but I travel to fill myself. To fill myself with new experiences, new people, new culture, and most of all new perspective. .... Sometimes we need to step outside of normal routine and the comfort of everyday life in order to learn our most important lessons. Travel allows us to look at our life from a different perspective to help uncover what is not serving us & to figure out what we need to feel more fulfilled. It allows us to not only see more of what the world has to offer, but to better understand the blessings we already have. It gives new perspective on what truly matters to us- what we value, what we appreciate, and what we take for granted. When stuck in our day-to-day routine, it‘s so easy to focus on what we lack. But traveling reminds us that the little things we consider “normal” or “a given,” are actually things that not everyone is fortunate enough to have. .... Now that I am back in Israel, I have a much greater appreciation for the many blessings in my life. I feel that all too familiar overwhelming sense of gratitude to be able live in a country that I absolutely love and truly call home. Being away from here has only strengthened my connection to this country, this city and to the people. .... As I step back into my daily routine, I ask myself, where can I focus more on appreciating the many blessings in my life instead of focusing on what I feel I lack? Where can I find more gratitude for the little things that I usually take for granted (like watching sunsets, being able to flush toilet paper down the toilet & drinking water from the tap)? I encourage all of us to continuously seek new perspective & to live in true abundance- by never taking anything for granted and by finding ways to show appreciation and gratitude for even the simplest blessings that we don’t consider blessings at all. Only then can we invite more of what we want into our lives
