I am grateful for: the ability to begin again

In every moment, we have the ability and opportunity to begin again. Every morning we get up, every thought we have, every breath we take, is a chance to start over and practice being the best version of ourselves. We are humans. We make mistakes. We regret things we have said or have done. Yom Kippur is a time that allows us to ask for forgiveness. This is a humbling, challenging and uncomfortable task but it is one that is so important to our personal growth and evolution.

....

Yet, what I’ve found is that our greatest challenge isn’t always asking for forgiveness from others, but our greatest challenge is practicing self-forgiveness, self-compassion & self-love. So often, we are too hard on ourselves. We ask for forgiveness from others for things we have yet to forgive ourselves for. We get caught in the mentality that we are stuck- what’s done is done. But, we have to remind ourselves that we always have the choice to begin again and all it takes is pure & authentic forgiveness & compassion to ourselves first and foremost.

....

So I ask, where can I show more kindness to myself? Where can I learn from my “mistakes” and understand that they were meant to happen to teach me a lesson? Where can I practice self-compassion so I can show the same to others? I encourage you to ask these questions to yourself because once we have truly forgiven ourselves and practice our own self love, only then we can give and receive true forgiveness and love to and from others
